Bio: He entered into the Academy for gifted children at the age of four and excelled at all he did. Upon leaving the Klingon Academy he traveled Qo’nos on foot for three years then he joined his father's ship, the IKV Hawk's Talon, he progressed through the ranks rapidly becoming second in command at the age of 20. Upon reaching this position, he realized he could go no further on this ship because he did not wish to unseat his father, he transferred to the IKV Razorback Tiger until it is destroyed in a battle with a Romulan bird of prey.
Wandering from outpost to outpost he worked as a gun for money for the next 7 years until he encountered a traveling mage from a little known planet in the Romulan Star System just on the border of the neutral Zone called Salet. Salet chose the old ways from before the forefathers left Vulcan. D'Aratgh learnt that logic is important as long as you do not let it cloud your emotions. He also realized that the ways of the warrior are all important when you include a touch of moderation. He traveled with Salet for the next 5 years until Salet died in a bar fight on a mining ship in the Gamma Quadrant during the battle D’Aratgh received a near fatal blow and is left scared. Traveling for a further 3 years by himself he came upon a Cardasian space station in orbit around the planet Bajor.
He befriended a Ferengi bartender called Quark who owned a bar on the station. He couldn't stay because the Cardasians didn't trust but swore to return and see Quark and teach him the ways of the warrior. Three years later again he returns to the space station which is now under Federation control and is surprise to see a Klingon in a Starfleet uniform. He finds out that this is Lt Worf and he served on the famous USS Enterprise (visiting at the time.). D'Aratgh introduces himself and buys Worf a drink. Not blood wine but an earth drink called Prune Juice. (This amuses Quark!!!) Worf recommends that D'Aratgh join Starfleet, he tells him it is very difficult but is a satisfying life. D'Aratgh joined Starfleet later that year, recommended by Captain Jean Luc Picard. He finds the Academy hard going not because of the standards required (which he always meets) but because of the closeness of the cadets required to succeed. While at the academy he joins the 'black Templar's' a little known society based on the ancient Order of the Knight Templar's from earths 14th century. (Itself based in Paris).
D’Aratgh has a keen interest in the ancient history of the planet Earth. His main interest lay in the medieval period between the 13th and 14th century. Strangely, he feels the Ancient Order of the Knights Templar were in fact, an exploratory group of Klingon's acting under the orders of the then Klingon Chancellor, K'Ahtell of the house of R'Oislan. Their leader was, J'Aredt of the house of M'Aloyg. (His name was remembered, as Jacques De La Malloy).
Their mission was one of observation, but due to their intense feeling of honor, they could not stand to one side and see innocent people slaughtered, which lead them to become remembered as the protectors of the innocent. He also believes that they were discovered by a group of interplanetary bounty hunters, who persuaded King Phillip of France to persecute and execute the order. He believes the fact that they always wore sackcloth and never unrobed, would conceal their basic physical differences.
This fascination with the Knights led him to join the 'Black Templar's', a descendent organization of the Knights Templar. He now owns a six-foot broadsword that he often practices with it on the holodeck and has often used in battle.
Like all Klingon's, he is a master with all forms of unarmed combat and has a huge knowledge of weapons of all sorts. He does however, likes to use bladed weapons, his favorite being his 13th century broadsword. He is an accomplished pilot who trained at the 'Centre for Klingon Excellence' on Quo’nos and he narrowly missed death when performing the forbidden Death Roll (translated from Klingon). A huge fan of all forms of combat D’Aratgh can often be found on the holodeck in one of his many battle programs if not fighting he will be studying the history of medieval earth.
